Privacy Policy
April 3, 2026
Effective date: April 3, 2026
Introduction
Brian Rohde (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Eight Angle, a yoga pose detection and practice tracking application for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
By using Eight Angle, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Camera Data
Eight Angle requires camera access to detect yoga poses during practice sessions. All pose detection processing occurs entirely on your device using on-device machine learning models (Apple Vision framework and Google MediaPipe). Camera frames are never transmitted to our servers or any third party. Practice recordings are stored locally on your device and, if you enable iCloud Sync, in your private iCloud account.
Analytics Data
We use PostHog, a third-party analytics service hosted in the United States, to collect anonymous usage data that helps us improve the app. This includes:
- App usage events (screens viewed, features used)
- Practice session activity (session start/stop, pose counts, duration)
- Navigation patterns (tab switches)
- Subscription-related events (upgrade views, purchase completions)
- Device information (device model, operating system version, screen size)
- An anonymous device identifier generated by PostHog (not your Apple ID or any personal identifier)
We also set anonymous user properties to understand usage patterns, including subscription status, total practice count, and app version. These properties are not linked to your identity.
Analytics data does not include personally identifiable information (PII). We do not collect your name, email address, or any personal contact information through analytics. We do not use session replay or screen recording.
You can opt out of analytics at any time in the app’s Settings.
iCloud Data (Paid Feature)
If you subscribe to Eight Angle and enable iCloud Sync, the following data is synced to your private iCloud account via Apple CloudKit:
- Practice session metadata and thumbnails
- Badges and achievements
- Intentions
- Bookmarks
Video recordings sync only over WiFi by default. You may enable cellular sync in Settings. All iCloud data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.
Subscription Data
Your subscription state is stored securely in your device’s Keychain and may sync across your Apple devices via iCloud Keychain. All purchase transactions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information.
Photo Library Access
Eight Angle allows you to export practice videos and images to your device’s photo library. This requires your permission to save to the photo library. We do not read or access any other content in your photo library.
